70 DC Comics icons

DC doesn't exactly have a great track record when it comes to female characters and their relationships, so I particularly wanted to showcase some of my favourite female friendships/rivalries/romances (although for a few of them, I just liked the art). Featuring Bats, Birds, Outsiders, Young Justice, the Secret Six, a few Justice Leaguers, and Titans past and present.

Yet more fic! - Buffy

Hiya!  So I'm writing a Jenny fic.  So far there are two parts, each around 1,000 words.  I think there will be four in total.  My first completed long fic, so I hope you enjoy it!  It was inspired by how many times the word "vegeance" is used in relation to Jenny and her people.  It's a strong theme in season 2, and I wanted to incorporate this with how it's used later on.

Title: Child of Vengeance.
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Characters: Jenny Calendar, D'Hoffryn, Angel/Angelus, Giles, Willow.
Word Count: 2,000.
Summary: Jenny has always avoided vengeance.  Her people's obsession with it drove her from them.  But now, a victim of Angelus and fearing for her loved ones, vengeance may be her only hope.
Part:  ONE.  TWO.

Parts four and five will probably be written and posted tomorrow :)

22 by Kerkevik, a fanfic response to myself for Returning Home (posted yesterday)

Hi,

I was wondering about what I would post today, but I've just responded to a comment about Returning Home http://kerkevik.livejournal.com/701.html made by  [info]delta_mai .

Well this fic, 22  http://kerkevik.livejournal.com/19023.html , is in a way a direct response to myself in writing that drabble. Since I haven't decided in my own head whether it is set in the 'verse of Returning Home, I'll leave that decision up to the reader - if  there are any of course. I want to still fix a couple of things, but I really feel the need to put this up today, so I'm just going to have to suck it up and post it again now :-)

  Hope you like,

Still under Willow & Tara's spell,
  Ray.

(And that should have been Stranger Among the Living - as someone pointed out to me earlier *tries not to blush TOO much*)

Half A Moon 7 -- Diana Barrigan (White Collar)

7 female characters I love that I'm calling my HalfAMoon 7. It's a mini-spam, a favorite quote, a brief explanation of their awesome, and ten icons.

Diana Barrigan (White Collar) [Livejournal] [Dreamwidth]
THE SHORT VERSION: If you want something done right the first time, assign Diana.

Previously:

Kahlan Amnell (Legend of the Seeker) [Livejournal] [Dreamwidth]
THE SHORT VERSION: BAMC stands for Bad Ass Mother Confessor.

Miranda Bailey (Grey's Anatomy) [Livejournal] [Dreamwidth]
THE SHORT VERSION: I want to be Miranda Bailey when I grow up.
[princess tutu] won't you dance with me?

Picspam/Primer: Princess Tutu

Princess Tutu is a fandom that I see get attention about twice a year: during halfamoon and Yuletide. Granted, most of my fandoms are Western live-action shows, but I still don't see Princess Tutu getting nearly the amount of love it deserves. I don't know if it's that it's an anime, or that it involves ballet, or that it does not at all shy away from its fairytale aspects, but I'm here to tell you a little bit about why you should give Princess Tutu a chance, even if its name makes you wince.

(Its name makes everybody wince, right up to the very end of the very last episode when you find yourself thinking, "Yeah, there's nothing else it could've been named.")

Vid Rec: Legend of a Cowgirl [Zoe, Firefly]

Zoe Washburn is my favorite Firefly character. She's smart and strong and has a wicked dry sense of humor. She's every inch the warrior and every inch a woman, the two aspects not sacrificed for the each other.

Zoe Washburn

Vid Rec:
Legend of a Cowgirl by [personal profile] shati is one of my favorite vids, and one of the few that I've fond that features just Zoe. The link goes to a download (since Imeem imploded) but it is totally worth it.

Meta: Detective Juliet O'Hara (Psych)

Photobucket

AUTHOR'S NOTE: This post contains SPOILERS for all aired episodes of Psych, through the Season Five finale, "Yang 3 in 2D."

Meet Santa Barbara Police Detective Juliet O'Hara (played by Maggie Lawson), one of my favorite female characters. In any other group, she'd be the Crazy Girl, but, surrounded by the other characters of Psych, she's the Sane One. She is genuinely a nice person, it's also Important to her to be liked, which ties into her competitive nature. She's diligent, hard-working, and dedicated, without it making her into a miserable bore. She has an underlying geekiness, and she can sometimes get overly invested in silly things. Some of what I like about Jules is, admittedly, intangible: she just makes me happy.

in celebration of star trek femslash!

This is a post in celebration of femslash. Because I am primarily a Star Trek fangirl, it will also be a post in celebration of Star Trek femslash.

First, I’d like to share with you my own manifesto: Why I Femslash. Not fandom-specific, but a general cri de coeur. (And I invite your own contributions as well!)

Next, a few femslash stories of my own (DS9 and VOY/TNG crossover):

And finally, femslash vid and fic recs from around the TNG, DS9, and VOY fandoms. This is far from exhaustive – I spun my own brain around just thinking of all the possibilities! – so think of this arrangement not as a full menu but as a little amuse-bouche.

Enjoy!

And props to one and all for a lovely, ladyfull fest!
