The Unpopular Women Love Post

This post is for celebrating and loving your favorite under-appreciated women.

Rules nicked from bofoddity:

1. Start a thread and put the character's name and the canon they come from in the subject line.

2. Those who love the character comment on the thread with squee, thoughts, fic/art/vid recs, picspams, essays, links and everything they can think of. Make sure your character gets all the love and the attention she deserves.

3. If a character has a thread and you want to talk about her, comment to the thread in question. General comments and threads for new characters go to the main post.

4. Focus on the love. This is an all positivity, all time post. Embrace your happy!

5. Absolutely no bashing allowed. Please avoid making negative comparisons to other characters, other character types and "well this character sucks more!" kind of comments. Those characters and character types have their fans too and hey, it's a love post. Save negativity for other things.
No bashing actresses or the other versions of the character either. Keep in mind that mileages vary and what doesn't work for you may work for someone else.

River Song, Doctor Who
Hell on high heels.

Re: River Song, Doctor Who
Yes! I love her ability to befuddle the Doctor. She's an awesome character, I wish she could have been around longer. (I mean, I know why not - her backwards-timeline story arc was great, and if they brought her back too much it would be weird, but still...)

And a rec, a drabble I wrote, implied River/Eleven, 100 words, G - The Princess and the Doctor

Catherine Weaver and Jesse, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles
Catherine Weaver isn't disliked, just often ignored. But she is SO badass.

Jesse was a really complex character that acts understandably in some ways.

There's a really great Jesse/Riley vid out there: Seamstress by chaila

Minerva McGonagall, Harry Potter
Kickass witch, magical BAMF, defender of children, fierce friend, and she can transform into a cat.

Britta Perry, Community
I love her willingness to put herself out there again and again, no matter how many times she screwed up or did something embarrassing. And I ship her so hard with Annie and/or Frankie.

I find Britta so *relatable* in all her human earnest ridiculous splendor!

Sharon Carter, MCU
She's so badass and self-contained! I want a movie about her!

Re: Sharon Carter, MCU
Yes! We get so little about her as a person in canon! I personally love this Steve/Sharon fic because it gives her so much more depth.

Catelyn Stark, A Song of Ice and Fire
Catelyn is so wonderful. She left her home to marry a stranger, and she made herself a life there, and raised five children. She fought off Bran's assassin with her bare hands! She told Jaime Lannister his honor was worth less than the contents of his chamber pot, she comforted Lynesse Hightower, she always argued for peace, and she always, always did her duty.

"Life is worth more than a song."

Nova Bordelon, Queen Sugar

I have literally never seen a character like this on TV. Everything she feels plays across her face like a screen. She's a joy to watch.

Elsie Hughes, Westworld
I love that her introduction in the series is where she's geeking out over a tiny programming detail with her boss/mentor. I love that she's smart and snarky and impatient with incompetence. I love that she's detail oriented and adept at problem-solving. I'm sad that she might have been killed off (but we can't be sure?) and that she doesn't get more fandom love.

Padme Amidala, Star Wars Prequels
She led her people to win a war by using a Queen's Gambit maneuver when she was just 14 years old. Her strategy completely surprises Palpatine|Darth Sidious- he'd wanted/expected the hopelessly outgunned and surrounded Naboo to burn to strengthen the sympathy vote in his bid for the position of Chancellor.

She fights for diplomacy and democracy throughout her whole career, and she's one of the senators who found the resistance/rebellion. (Sadly her whole Rebel arc ended up only in the deleted scenes of Revenge of the Sith.)

She's recognized mostly for being the key to Anakin's downfall and mother of the twins, but she was so, so much more than that.

Here's a beautiful one-shot about her.
